Why fashion is always changing
On March 7, 2022 by Emma CollymoreFashion to some extent affects everyone. In the early era of supermodels fashion could be classified by glamor or general. Today, fashion is fast, fashionable, comfortable and personal. Street fashion, as one of the most popular forms, more reflects individuality and lifestyle than trends in general. As social networks offer people ample opportunities to get acquainted with the trends that are happening now, fashion has become truly formless. Hollywood stars update their Facebook and Twitter accounts almost every second of the day, including what they’re wearing. Thus, Stars set the fashion trends. However, the stars are not the only people who can only openly express their fashion styles. Fashion bloggers, not only professionals but also ordinary people, can send their fashion style to the world. In an instant, fashion has really become commonplace, everywhere and in everyone.
In the age of information and the much globalized world community fashion has changed in its outlook and concept as it begins to embody many diverse elements of different cultures. For example, in the 1980s, jeans monopolized youth culture not only in the United States but also in other countries, especially in East Asian countries such as Japan and Korea. Now American styles are no longer the standard, as designers of different ethnic backgrounds incorporate their own view into their design. Also, in this much globalized world, ethnicity is no longer the only factor influencing a trend in fashion as it was decades ago. Now people are guided by taste, lifestyle and experience. For example, the simple feminine appearance of Alexander Wang has won many fans of minimalism. Thus, perhaps the trajectory of fashion will be more attentive to people’s lifestyles and social trends.
In addition, today fashion has become a strong embodiment of a personal brand. Everyone’s unique style can be called his fashion. For example, originally the punk style was the style of socially dissatisfied youth, now it has been adopted even by fashion designers. Decades ago, standard rules such as women’s and men’s clothing were in vogue. Today, fashion is not strictly dictated by gender. There is a new fashion class called unisex, in which clothing lines can be worn by both sexes.
This type of fashion has been extremely popular given the greater equality between men and women. Women have more choice than before.
Not only adults, children have their own fashion. Although they mimicked what adults wear, children’s fashion was also widely commercialized. Children’s fashion is strongly influenced by adult fashion. Many brands of adult designers also have a children’s line that closely follows adult trends.
Fashion styles have changed, which has increased freedom of choice. The price of fashion has also changed. Previously, fashionable clothes meant high prices. Now a fashionable item of clothing doesn’t have to be expensive. Brands like Forever 21, J. Crew, Target Clothing, etc., offer fashion style clothing at very affordable prices. Simply put, the price is no longer equated to good style or good fashion.
Fashion has radically evolved — not just the concept of fashion, but price and affordability.
